If chanting is not your thing, then create your own mantra. Before you start writing, repeat a positive thought a few times. This will inspire you and empower you on your creative journey.
For instance, I created my own: “I am patient with myself so that my writing can manifest effortlessly.”
I found some wonderful affirmations that you can apply to yourself or your writing.
'I am truly a gifted artist'
'Through the use of a few simple tools, my creativity will flourish'
'My creativity always leads me to success'
Remember to set attainable goals in order to avoid disappointments. Be kind to yourself and use your creativity for the greatest good of all concerned.
Do you have any affirmations or mantras you repeat daily? Is writing a continuing goal?
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BEST WISHES FOR 2012!!!
Oh wow! I love your mantras! More positive than my "write, damn it!" that I scream to myself when I want to get inspired! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, maybe I should be more positive!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!!!
Thanks, Claudia! take care
x
Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteA writing mantra huh? I am the writing Ninja!
Writing tends to be a continuous goal, except that it got interrupted this year, so now editing will be my continuous goal. ;-) Have a wonderful new year!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on trying to set attainable goals.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any affirmations, but I repeat a mantra everyday in the morning and, sometimes, also before I fall asleep. The mantra is Sri Ram Jay Ram Jay Jay Ram Om. I've done it for years - I also use it as a warm-up before starting my Kriya Yoga practice - and I came to realize that, apart from all the good things it can bring, this practice helps me remain focused at all times.
Happy New Year, Claudia!
May your wishes for 2012 come true!
Hi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteLOL! You're a riot! I'm sure Charlie can help you come up with a more positive mantra ;)
Wishing lots of inspiration and success in your writing career for 2012!!!
Hi Alex,
Ninjas can have mantras, too ;)
Happy New Year and much continued success!
Hi Misha,
I'm with you on this one. Editing will be part of my goal, at least for the first 3 months of 2012.
May the New Year be filled with inspiration for your writing.
Hi Jay,
Thank you for sharing this mantra, Jay. Writing should be like a mantra, repeat and repeat some more until it becomes part of you.
Wishing you a successful year in your career and all your undertakings.
Thanks Claudia. Your suggestions are quite helpful
ReplyDeleteHi Anthony,
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by. Happy New Year!!!
Thank you for the reminder that affirmations are key to changing that negative self-talk we might otherwise play in our heads. Happy New Year to you, Dear Claudia! May all your goals come to fruition in 2012.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind wishes. I, too, wish you a prosperous year. May 2012 grant you what your heart desires.
Love these Claudia! Thanks for the inspiration!! I sure could use it when it comes to my writing. I am trying not too be too hard on myself for not getting to it lately. I keep telling myself I will start again after the new year! lol
ReplyDelete:)
Hi Cathy,
ReplyDeleteDon't force yourself. Your writing should be like your paintings: effortless ;)
I think you have to respect your muse and only write when you're inspired.

Thanks for sharing these nuggets of inspiration, Claudia.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a New-Years-Resolution type of person, but I'm 100% behind your set attainable goals piece of advice!
Hope you have a great New Year. Will re-connect in 2012...
Thank you Isa,
ReplyDeleteHope 2012 fulfills your dreams.
Hi Mish,
You're welcome! I wish you a wonderful year and I'll see you in 2012 ;)
Great post! I used to have my students recite a mantra to themselves each day (It was quite the group). They really do work, those kids turned around and were no longer behavior problems as long as I didn't miss a day of school.
ReplyDeleteI think you are giving us some great advice. I had a mission statement as a teacher and I have one as a writer, but I need a mantra...If you say it enough you will believe it.
Thanks! Have a wonderful New Year!!
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely that you used mantras with your students. Wow! that says a lot about you! Thank you for sharing your lovely message.
Happy New Year and much success in all your endeavours!
I always say "Another day in paradise." when people ask how I'm doing. People always, somehow connote something negative. Too bad for them.
ReplyDeleteFor me writing is a pleasure for its own sake. I tend not to set goals, because not making them just puts on pressure I don't need
ReplyDeleteHi Dan,
ReplyDeleteYeah, too bad for them. I guess you're not a curmudgeon after all ;) LOL!
Hi Al,
I've noticed that every year I tend to have less and less goals. Not because I don't have any but because I don't want feel bad about not accomplishing them. I tackle each goal as they come; day by day.
I wish you the very best writing gifts for 2012.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Claudia! I wish you all the best for 2012... this is an inspiring mantra to start the year off right :)
ReplyDeleteHey, welcome back! Happy to see you around here again. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful new year!
